AM. Run 6½km/32, Steady easy, HR142(157), ascent 130m
Up early to beat the heat for a jog. I’d picked a route out over the ring road, into the park, but it just went up for 3.25km, then when I’d got to the top I turned around and came back down. Hard on the legs.
We went over to take the cable car to the top of Parc Monjuic, soaked in the sights from the castle on the top and then walked down over the far side to the 1992 Olympic stadium, to look around the Olympic museum there (http://www.museuolimpicbcn.cat/index.php?id=18&L=2). It was a good exhibtion, plenty of information, not just about 1992, and not just about the Olympics either – there was a fair bit dedicated to other athletic endeavours.
After a sandwich lunch we wandered down the hill past the palace, where a world beach volleyball competition was taking place. We looked at the art in Caixa Forum, and then took the metro back into town to wander through La Ramblas, past the cathedral and then to the Picasso museum (http://www.museupicasso.bcn.cat/en/). After all that we caught the metro back to our hostel, had a few beers and then found a local restaurant for a tapas dinner.
