Cycle 107km. Midweek meander audax

Cycle 107km. Midweek Meander audax (, 107km (23.9km/h), steady easy, HR107(153) ascent 920m

I took the day off work with Jules to ride this midweek audax. We must’ve been the youngest people on the event by a good few years, most of them were of retirement age – I guess this is what I’ve got to look forward to in another 25 years! The first few kilometres out of West Wycombe were hard work – many short, steep hills, although once we were into Oxfordshire things started to level out a bit.

We had a bit of a break/cake stop near Quainton, which precipitated our only puncture of the ride – Jules leant her bike into the hedge and the front wheel rapidly deflated – a bramble had caught it. After that, we were soon on our way and tucking into the cakes at Waterperry gardens, the major stop en route.

The final leg featured some particularly tricky headwinds and a final push up over Bledlow Ridge. A pleasant downhill run back to West Wycombe and we were soon back in the car and home in time for a few beers and some refuelling out in the garden at home.
