Out for another little jog this morning.
Got home to find we’d left the tap on the water butt in the wrong position and most of the rainwater we could’ve collected today had dribbled out of it. Oh well.
I didn’t train this evening, instead I made some chocolate brownies while Jules did a turbo session. The previous batch we made a couple of weeks back, to Jane Asher’s recipe, were just a little too “English” and like cakes, not gooey enough. Then I remembered Justin makes legendary brownies for his parties, so I got him to email me the recipe.
Justin’s Brownie recipe:
300g (10 1/2oz) granulated sugar
70g (2 1/2oz) self-raising flour
40g (1 1/2oz) walnuts, shelled and broken (Justin usually leaves these out and maybe uses some choc chips instead)
125g (4 1/2oz) butter
60g (2oz) good cocoa powder
* Pre-heat the oven to 190°C, line a shallow square baking tin (about 22cm square) with greased baking parchment.
* Whisk the sugar and eggs together then add the sifted flour (and walnuts/choc chips).
* Melt the butter, stir in the cocoa powder and allow to cool slightly before mixing into the egg and flour mixture.
* Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for approx 35mins – the brownies are ready when a sharp knife inserted into the baked mixture comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5mins before turning out onto a wire rack.
Made em with Walnuts, but maybe choc chips would be better. I’ll just have to make another batch to be sure ;-)
