Swim 2000m + Cycle 76km

AM. Swim 2000m/33 steady

First time back in the pool since the 23rd September. I didn’t feel too good, and I’d had enough after ploughing up and down for half and hour. I can’t have helped that I did some weight training yesterday.

PM. Cycle 76km (26.6km/h). Henley + back, steady, HR 138(163) ascent 565m

Took the afternoon of and headed out on my bike for only the second time in a month. There were a few showers about and I got caught in a couple of light ones. Not enough to make me want to stop and put a jacket on though. Scoping out a return route for Sunday’s club run to Henley, I took the direct route there, straight over the big hill south of Watlington. I struggled into the breeze all the way to Henley and by the time I’d got there, my legs were dead. Man, I am so unfit (and lardy – I crashed through the 75kg barrier today!). I found a nice route home again though, out the back of Henley and through Shepherd’s Green and Stoke Row. The rear tyre picked up a flint on the way down into Ewelme, but the puncture was soon fixed and I cruised home, sort of. Only 76 km, but by the end I was as tired as if it’d been 76 miles.

Looking forward to the final night of Masterchef: The Professionals tonight. I’ve hardly missed an installment.

  1. Evenings just won’t be the same now Masterchef is over. A worthy winner though I thought. A few of those desserts and you’ll be 80kg before you know it!!!!
